Engine General (Supplementary) USCG Question #999 (Set 18)

Referring to the illustrated psychrometric chart, under what conditions are the dry- bulb, wet-bulb, and dew point temperatures for air all equal in value? GS-RA-22 Illustration GS-RA-22: the U.S. Coast Guard has not released this illustration.

Official USCG Answer & Rule Citation

Correct Answer: Option C — When the air is completed saturated with moisture and the relative humidity is 100%.

The dry-bulb, wet-bulb, and dew point temperatures converge at the saturation point. When air is fully saturated, it holds the maximum possible moisture at that temperature, resulting in 100% relative humidity. At this state, no further evaporation can occur, causing all three temperature measurements to yield the same value.
