Provide Fact-Based Explanations
Ground your answers in recognized maritime standards (IMO conventions, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, COLREGs, DG Shipping circulars, or manufacturer technical manuals) whenever discussing safety-critical machinery or navigation rules.
Stay Relevant to the Discussion Topic
Keep comments and replies strictly relevant to the specific question or topic. Do not post off-topic rants, unrelated queries, or duplicate posts across multiple questions.
4. Prohibited Conduct & Spam Policy
To protect the integrity and educational value of BrightMariner, the following behaviors and content submissions are strictly prohibited:

- Not Official Maritime Advice: Peer explanations, mnemonic tricks, and user comments do not constitute official legal, navigation, engineering, or regulatory instructions.
- Primacy of Official Conventions: In all circumstances involving real vessel operations, sea voyages, emergency duties, watchkeeping, or vessel maintenance, the official text of international maritime conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, COLREGs, MLC), Flag State administration circulars (e.g. DG Shipping, UK MCA, USCG), and vessel-specific Safety Management Systems (SMS) take absolute legal and operational precedence.

7. User Comment Moderation Policy

Moderator Rights & Editorial Discretion
